The Italian Society of San Antonio
Keeping Italian culture, language and family traditions alive in San Antonio since 1890.
Generations of tradition, a history of community
Near the end of the nineteenth century, when San Antonio's population was just 37,673, a small group of Italians arrived in the Alamo City. Most were immigrants, and they formed a fraternal society to help Italian families adapt to a new language and a new way of life.
As San Antonio's Italians prospered, they took on leadership roles in the city's social, political and economic life. Today the Society is a hub for community, charity, culture, cooking classes, Italian lessons and more.
The longest continuously operating Italian American society in the United States. We pre-date the Sons and Daughters of Italy, founded in 1905. Members of every background are welcome.
